Before going into custom engine building I was doing artwork featuring modern railroads. I work entirely in colored or graphite pencil on illustration board. The original works take anywhere from 120-180 hours to complete. I have won numerous awards in National and International competitions as well. I am pretty much self taught and only took art in public schools when I was growing up. With my family's history in the railroad industry it was natural for me to choose this area for my subject matter. All the images below are available in print form. They come on 100lb., acid-free, museum quality paper. This will insure their longevity over the years against yellowing or fading. I hope you enjoy looking at them as much as I did drawing them.
The Bukove family has had many members, over the years, that have worked for the various railroads. His Grandfather worked for the Santa Fe for over 40 years and his Uncle worked for UP for almost as long. So, the influence has always been present and after doing the first drawing there was no going back. The bug had bitten.
